Window problemby John HughesI have a window facing roughly West, which is about 1.35m square. In it, at night, I see a reflection of the room furnishings. When it is windy, the pane flexes, and the reflectiions move backwards and forwards, in a slightly disconcerting manner. Question: what is the relationship between the displacement of the pane to or from the observer (which will be a matter of millimetres) and the apparent movement forwards or backwards of the room furnishings (a matter of metres)? |
