Convention and “Etiquette”It is important to remember that our group leaders are all volunteers and need to feel that members of their group have a loyalty to that group. Turning up at meetings is one way to express that loyalty, or failing that the provision of a timely apology either by telephone or e-mail. In most cases, the group leader will have prepared in advance for each group meeting. Very often aspects of the preparation (e.g. photo-copying) require knowledge of how many people will be at the meeting. It is very demotivating to prepare material for absentees. Where chargeable materials are provided, it is also financially unpleasant. Some of the groups’ meetings assume that participants have done some background reading, or absorbed relevant knowledge at previous meetings. Loyal group members remember this. |
| If your loyalty fades, and you wish no longer to be associated with a group, it is important to let both the group leader know, and also the groups co-ordinator. This is most easily done by using this web page. If your loyalty transfers to another group, please also let the two of us know. There is sometimes a need to make contact with members of a group when it is not possible to get a list from the leader. |
| If you change your telephone or e-mail address or move house, please let Pat Smith our membership secretary have the new information. This is most easily done by using this web page. |
