1st Thursday Time: 2.00-3.30pm Location: Victoria Hall First session: 1 October |
A new group for those who wish to write prose and/or poetry. Probably once
a month and could, possibly be on one of the Thursday afternoons not occupied
by the Poetry group.
Whether you’re an experienced writer or a beginner this will be an opportunity
to increase your writing skills and to receive feedback on your work in a relaxed
and informal atmosphere. The course won't deal with journalism or the writing
of articles.

A big thank you to all who came to support me at the Grassington Festival on
24th June - it was great to see familiar faces among the people there. The Festival
organisers were very pleased with the event (I think there was only one empty
seat!).
A date for your diary: On the evening of Thursday 1 October The Word Birds poets'
collective will be hosting a poetry reading in Settle's Victoria Hall. This
is being held to celebrate National Poetry Day. I have been invited as the special
guest and other Settle poets will be reading. There will be an 'open mic' slot
in which local writers can participate and there will be wine, and a book stall,
etc. Hope to see you there.
1st October was the date I gave for our first Creative Writing meeting but I
think - in view of the reading in the evening - it would be better to postpone
the October date until later in the month (I know one or two people who enrolled
said they wouldn't be able to make this meeting anyway so I think this may prove
better all round.)
Dates for the first term of Creative Writing:
October - date to be arranged - either the 15 or 22 of October
5 November
3 December
Initially, once a month until we see how things go. I look forward to seeing
you.
Jean (Stevens)
