The group will look at documentary sources from Domesday to the census of 1851,
and will cover issues such as
- the development of the township field systems
- how to identify walls of different centuries
- the agricultural practices and diet in the 14th century
- the early layout of the townships.
The townships covered will be Burton in Lonsdale, Long Preston, Settle, Giggleswick,
Rathmell, Langstrothdale and Littondale, and I would envisage half a dozen meetings
and perhaps three or four visits to look at the places of interest.
